Sinalau Bakas Himbaan Bongol, Tamparuli Sabah

Image
Hi everyone! Today we’re on a foodie adventure in Sabah, and we’re stopping by one of the most famous local spots. Sinalau Bakas Himbaan Bongol. If you’re traveling along this route, you’ll definitely notice the smoky aroma calling you from far away. And trust me… once you smell it, you have to stop! So for those who don’t know, sinalau bakas literally means ‘smoked wild boar’. It’s a traditional Kadazan-Dusun delicacy, and it’s one of the most iconic roadside foods in Sabah. The meat is smoked low and slow over wood fire, giving it that deep, aromatic, slightly charred flavour. Look at that! You can hear the sizzling, see the fat dripping, and the smoke just wraps around the meat perfectly. This is cooking done the old-school way no fancy equipment, just pure fire, wood, and skill. So here’s the fun part you get to choose your preferred piece. They’ll weigh it and grill it again to make sure it’s hot and crispy. The cuts vary from lean to fatty, so pick based on your preference. Mmm! ...
